Genasys appoints Bill Dodd as board chairman

Genasys Inc. (NASDAQ: GNSS) announced that Bill Dodd has been appointed chairman of the company's board of directors following the retirement of Richard H. Osgood III, according to a company statement.
Dodd has served as a board member since May 2024. The San Diego-based protective communications company said Dodd will help guide the organization during what it described as a pivotal time.
"I am honored to accept the chairmanship and help guide the Company during this pivotal time," Dodd stated. "I look forward to continuing my collaboration with the rest of the Board and working more closely with management, shareholders, and the Genasys team to achieve the Company's goals and objectives."
Richard Danforth, chief executive officer of Genasys, said Dodd has provided valuable guidance to the board over the past two years. Danforth cited Dodd's leadership experience, government knowledge, and business background as qualifications for the role.
Dodd served in the California State Senate from December 2016 to December 2024, finishing his second term as chair of the Government Organization Committee. He also held positions on several other committees including Transportation, Energy Utilities and Communications, Business Professions, and Insurance.
From November 2014 to November 2016, Dodd served in the California State Assembly. He began his public service career in March 2000 as a member of the Napa County Board of Supervisors, serving until December 2014.
Before entering politics, Dodd owned and operated a water company and served as president of water quality industry trade associations. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University, Chico.
Genasys develops protective communication systems including acoustic devices and software platforms for emergency preparedness and response.
