First Merchants Corporation (NASDAQ: FRME) announced the appointment of Paul Fultz to the boards of directors of both First Merchants Corporation and First Merchants Bank. The $21 billion financial holding company made the announcement on May 19.
Fultz is a retired audit and business unit professional practice partner for KPMG LLP with more than 30 years of experience advising public company boards. His background includes financial reporting, risk oversight, and governance.
"With more than 30 years of experience as a Big Four audit partner and trusted advisor to public company boards and audit committees, he brings deep expertise in financial reporting, risk oversight, and regulatory matters," said Board Chair Jean Wojtowicz in a statement.
The addition of Fultz brings First Merchants' board to 13 members, including 10 independent outside directors. He will be on the ballot for continuing terms at the corporation's annual shareholders meeting in 2027.
First Merchants Corporation is headquartered in Muncie, Indiana, and operates through its full-service bank charter, First Merchants Bank. The bank also operates divisions including First Merchants Private Wealth Advisors and First Savings Bank.
