Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) announced the appointment of Jeffrey Guldner as a new board member, effective September 15. Guldner will serve on the Compensation and People Development Committee and Finance and Risk Management Committee.

Guldner retired as chairman, president and CEO of Pinnacle West Capital Corporation and its subsidiary Arizona Public Service Company on March 31, 2025, after five years leading the company. He continues in a non-executive advisory role at Pinnacle West until March 2026.

"Jeff's leadership and energy sector insights bring incredible value to our company as we shape the future of energy," said Harry Sideris, president and CEO of Duke Energy.

Ted Craver, independent chair of the Duke Energy board, said Guldner's experience at Pinnacle West "provides a unique lens that will strengthen the board with distinct perspectives."

Before joining Arizona Public Service, Guldner was a partner at Snell & Wilmer LLP in Phoenix, practicing public utility, telecommunications and energy law. He previously served as a surface warfare officer in the United States Navy and as an assistant professor of naval science at the University of Washington.

Guldner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa and graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University College of Law. He currently serves on the boards of the Smart Electric Power Alliance and the McCain Institute.
