BlackRock adds BDT & MSD Partners co-CEO to board

BlackRock Inc. (NYSE: BLK) elected Gregg R. Lemkau to its board of directors as an independent director, the company announced. Lemkau serves as co-chief executive officer of BDT & MSD Partners, a merchant bank.



Lemkau previously worked at Goldman Sachs for 28 years, where he served as co-head of the investment banking division and was a member of the firm's management committee. During his tenure there, he advised on transactions totaling more than $1 trillion in aggregate deal value.



The executive currently chairs the board of trustees at Dartmouth College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in government and economics. He also serves as chairman of DFO Management, the investment office of Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell and his family.



With Lemkau's addition, BlackRock's board consists of 19 members, including 16 independent directors. The company has added six new independent directors since 2020.



"Gregg has positioned himself throughout his career as a trusted advisor and skilled investor with uniquely broad and deep expertise across markets and cycles," said Laurence D. Fink, BlackRock's chairman and CEO.
