BioGene Therapeutics appoints Ty Howton to board of directors
BioGene Therapeutics Inc. appointed Ty Howton to its board of directors, effective immediately, according to a statement from PreveCeutical Medical Inc. (CSE: PREV) (OTCQB: PRVCF) (FSE: 18H0).
Howton brings nearly 30 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience, including 15 years in executive roles at public and private companies. He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of Solid Biosciences, a clinical-stage gene therapy company, where he oversees daily operations and has helped advance multiple candidates into clinical trials.
His previous executive positions include Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of AavantiBio, which merged with Solid Biosciences in 2022, and Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Sarepta Therapeutics Inc. He also held senior legal and compliance roles at Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Genentech Inc.
Howton has served as Board Counsel and Corporate Secretary for several biopharmaceutical companies including Solid Biosciences, AavantiBio, Sarepta Therapeutics, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals. He currently serves on the board of Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
BioGene granted Howton 100,000 stock options exercisable at $5.00 per share until June 5, 2031, and 500,000 restricted share units. Both equity grants vest in 25% increments annually starting June 5, 2026.
BioGene Therapeutics Inc. is a Texas-based life sciences company focused on metabolic health and gene-based treatments. The company operates a wholly-owned subsidiary in Australia that conducts research into GLP-1 receptor agonists and diabetes treatments.
Howton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Yale University and a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.
