Applied Materials names Jim Anderson to board of directors

Applied Materials Inc. (NASDAQ: AMAT) announced the appointment of Jim Anderson to its board of directors, according to a company statement released July 22. Anderson will also serve on the board's Strategy and Investment Committee.

Anderson currently serves as chief executive officer and board member of Coherent Corp., a photonics company, since June 2024. He previously held the position of president and chief executive officer at Lattice Semiconductor Corporation from 2018.

His career includes senior executive roles at Advanced Micro Devices Inc., where he served as senior vice president and general manager of the Computing and Graphics Business Group. Anderson also held leadership positions at Intel, Broadcom and LSI Corporation across general management, engineering, sales, marketing and corporate strategy functions.

"Jim's extensive experience in innovation-driven technology businesses will be invaluable as we scale Applied Materials and address the tremendous opportunities ahead," said Tom Iannotti, chairman of the board.

Anderson holds an MBA and Master of Science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University, and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

He currently sits on the Americas Executive Board for the MIT Sloan School of Management and the US-Japan Business Council.

Applied Materials provides materials engineering solutions for semiconductor and advanced display manufacturing.
