Alnylam Pharmaceuticals announces board changes with new director

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ALNY) announced changes to its board of directors, with two departures and one appointment effective in early 2026.

Mike Bonney and Carolyn Bertozzi stepped down from the board effective December 2, 2025. Bonney joined the board in 2014 and served as board chair from December 2015 to August 2021, then as executive chair from August 2021 to January 2023. Bertozzi joined in 2023 and served on the Nominating and Corporate and Science and Technology Committees.

The company stated that Bertozzi's departure follows her election to Eli Lilly's board, effective December 8, 2025. She will continue as a scientific advisor to Alnylam.

Stuart Arbuckle will join the board as an independent director effective January 5, 2026. Arbuckle spent 13 years at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, most recently as executive vice president and chief operating officer, where he oversaw global commercial operations, human resources, corporate communications and portfolio management. He currently serves on the board of Rhythm Pharmaceuticals.

Board Chair Amy Schulman said Arbuckle "brings a valuable combination of commercial expertise and commitment to scientific innovation that will support our next phase of growth."

Alnylam develops RNA interference therapeutics and has four commercial products: AMVUTTRA, ONPATTRO, GIVLAARI, and OXLUMO. The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company also has partnerships with Novartis and Sanofi for additional RNAi therapeutics.
