bioAffinity reports 95% quarterly jump in lung cancer test sales

October 7, 2025 8:05 AM EDT

bioAffinity Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: BIAF) reported that sales of its CyPath Lung diagnostic test reached a record high in the third quarter of 2025, representing a 95% increase over the previous quarter. The San Antonio-based biotechnology company attributed the growth to expanding adoption by Veterans' hospitals and market expansion in the mid-Atlantic region.

For the first nine months of 2025, CyPath Lung sales increased 97% compared to the same period in 2024, according to the company's press release. The test is designed to detect lung cancer through noninvasive analysis of patient sputum samples.

Third-quarter performance metrics showed a 77% increase in new patients using CyPath Lung, along with improved patient compliance for at-home sample collection and return, the company stated.

"The continued acceleration in CyPath Lung adoption underscores the growing physician confidence in our test to detect lung cancer at its earliest, most treatable stages," said Maria Zannes, President and CEO of bioAffinity Technologies.

CyPath Lung uses flow cytometry and artificial intelligence to identify cell populations in patient sputum that indicate malignancy. Clinical study results demonstrated 92% sensitivity, 87% specificity and 88% accuracy in detecting lung cancer in high-risk patients with small lung nodules less than 20 millimeters, according to the company.

The test is marketed as a Laboratory Developed Test by Precision Pathology Laboratory Services, a subsidiary of bioAffinity Technologies. The company has published case studies showing the test's ability to detect early-stage lung cancer and help patients avoid unnecessary invasive procedures when nodules are benign.
