WISeKey International Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: WKEY) announced a commercial agreement with French aerospace company Latitude to assess orbital launches for WISeSat's planned satellite constellation. The partnership supports WISeSat's plan to deploy approximately 100 satellites by 2029 for secure IoT connectivity, environmental monitoring, and critical infrastructure management.
WISeSat, a WISeKey subsidiary focused on space technology for secure satellite communication, will use Latitude's Zephyr Launcher for deployment services. The Zephyr Launcher can carry payloads up to 200 kg to sun-synchronous orbit and is designed for multiple spaceport operations with high-frequency launch capability.
The satellites will incorporate WISeKey's cybersecurity technologies, including quantum-resistant security protocols, authentication mechanisms for IoT devices, and end-to-end protected data transmission between space and ground systems.
"This strategic collaboration represents a major leap toward global connectivity that's both intelligent and secure," said Carlos Moreira, CEO of WISeKey. "By deploying 100 satellites by 2029 in cooperation with Latitude, we aim to create a resilient and sovereign data infrastructure to support environmental, industrial, and governmental applications."
Latitude, founded in 2019, employs 180 people and focuses on providing dedicated launch services for small satellite operators. The company's clients include the French government and space agency CNES. Zephyr Launcher's first launch is scheduled for 2027.
"This agreement with WISeSat confirms Latitude's ability to support constellation operators with a reliable, flexible, and dedicated launch service," said Adeline Pitrois, Chief Commercial Officer of Latitude.
The information is based on a press release statement from the companies.
