Valtris Specialty Chemicals appoints Mike McGaugh as new CEO

Valtris Specialty Chemicals announced the appointment of Mike McGaugh as chief executive officer, replacing Simon Medley who is retiring but will continue as an advisor to the company.
McGaugh previously served as CEO of Myers Industries Inc. (NYSE: MYE), a manufacturer of plastic and metal products based in Akron, Ohio. Before that role, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer at BMC Stock Holdings.
McGaugh spent nearly 25 years at The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) in various senior leadership positions, including vice president and general manager of Dow Building Solutions and global general manager of the Growth & Innovation Business Portfolio. He holds a chemistry degree from Texas State University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
"Mike's decades of demonstrated leadership experience and deep understanding of Valtris' markets make him an outstanding choice to lead the company," said Jack Norris, a managing director of SK Capital, which owns Valtris.
Valtris, headquartered in Independence, Ohio, manufactures specialty performance additives for industries including coatings, adhesives, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, and personal care. The company operates seven manufacturing locations and employs approximately 600 people across North America, Europe and Asia.
SK Capital is a private investment firm focused on specialty materials, ingredients, and life sciences sectors with approximately $10 billion in assets under management as of December 31, 2025, according to the company statement.
