U.S. Strategic Metals has entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Australia-based RareX Limited (ASX: REE) to collaborate on critical minerals processing and supply chain development between the two countries.
The agreement, witnessed by U.S. Department of State representatives, establishes a framework for aligning rare earth and critical mineral production with multi-metallic downstream processing in the United States. The partnership focuses on heavy rare earth elements including dysprosium and terbium, as well as gallium and scandium.
Under the collaboration, the companies will assess processing capabilities at U.S. Strategic Metals' permitted Missouri facility for products from RareX's future operations. RareX contributes its 100% owned Cummins Range project in Western Australia, described as a near-permitted multi-critical mineral deposit containing rare earths, gallium, scandium, and phosphate.
The companies plan to jointly pursue strategic funding opportunities, technology development, and supply-chain collaboration. They will establish a working group to progress feasibility and technical assessments at the Missouri site and evaluate downstream integration opportunities.
"We are excited to collaborate with RareX to strengthen the allied critical minerals network," said Stacy W. Hastie, founder and CEO of U.S. Strategic Metals.
James Durrant, managing director and CEO of RareX Limited, called the partnership "a natural alignment between Australia's upstream mineral capability and the United States' growing downstream industrial base."
RareX also has made a proposition to the Kenyan Government for the Mrima Hill rare earth and niobium project in Kenya, in consortium with Iluka Resources Limited (ASX: ILU). The company expects to secure a mining license for its Cummins Range project in early 2026.
