Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that French President Emmanuel Macron is willing to help unblock the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking at a White House event, Trump said he spoke with Macron on Sunday about the situation. The U.S. president said Secretary of State Marco Rubio would announce the names of countries willing to aid the United States in the effort.
Trump expressed surprise with the United Kingdom's initial response, saying he was not happy with the UK. He added that he thinks the UK may become involved in the coalition.
The U.S. president has previously invited other countries to participate, arguing that it is in everyone's interest to ensure the strait is safe for the passage of tankers.
