Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Wednesday imposing a 25% tariff on certain advanced computing chips, including the Nvidia H200 and AMD MI325X, as part of efforts to address national security concerns related to semiconductor imports.

According to a fact sheet released by the White House, the tariff will not apply to chips imported for the U.S. technology supply chain or those aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity for semiconductor derivatives.

The White House document also indicated that Trump may impose broader tariffs on imports of semiconductors and their derivative products in the near future to encourage domestic manufacturing.
