Tamboran Resources Corporation (NYSE: TBN, ASX: TBN) appointed Todd Abbott as chief executive officer, effective January 15, 2026, according to a company statement.

Abbott brings over 25 years of upstream oil and gas experience to the role. He previously served as chief operating officer at Seneca Resources Company, which operates in the Appalachian Basin's Marcellus and Utica shale formations.

Prior to Seneca Resources, Abbott held operating positions at Marathon Oil Corporation and Pioneer Natural Resources, overseeing operations in the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford and Alaska.

During his tenure at Seneca Resources, Abbott restructured the organization and processes, resulting in approximately 10% reduction in capital expenditure and 9% increase in production within one year, the company stated.

Richard Stoneburner, who has been serving as interim CEO, will remain as chairman of the board.

"Todd brings over two decades of upstream experience with a strong record of operational leadership, capital discipline, safety and stewardship," Stoneburner said in the statement.

Abbott holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University.

Tamboran focuses on natural gas exploration and production in Australia's Beetaloo Basin in the Northern Territory. The company holds approximately 1.9 million net prospective acres and describes itself as the largest acreage holder in the basin.

The appointment comes as Tamboran enters the development phase of its Beetaloo Basin operations, which the company aims to use for providing energy to Australia's East Coast.
