March 12, 2026 7:00 AM EDT

Surf Air Mobility Inc. (NYSE: SRFM) has signed an aircraft purchase agreement with BETA Technologies (NYSE: BETA) for 25 all-electric ALIA CTOL aircraft, with options to purchase up to 75 additional units, according to a company statement.

The partnership positions Surf Air Mobility as the launch operator for BETA's passenger aircraft, with initial cargo operations planned under Mokulele Airlines in Hawaii. The companies expect to transition to passenger service following certification of BETA's passenger-configured aircraft.

Under the strategic partnership, Surf Air Mobility plans to establish factory-authorized service centers for BETA aircraft, beginning with exclusive rights in Hawaii. The company will invest in specialized tooling, infrastructure, and workforce development to support maintenance operations.

The aircraft deployment will begin with cargo services in Hawaii, leveraging the region's short-haul routes between islands and existing airport infrastructure. Surf Air Mobility aims to become the first Part 135 operator to offer commercial electric passenger flights for scheduled and on-demand charter services.

BETA will provide technical support and training for the maintenance operations, while Surf Air Mobility will handle operational aspects including flight services across passenger, cargo, and charter missions. The companies plan to conduct demonstration flights using BETA's ALIA aircraft in 2026.

The agreement includes collaboration on deploying BETA's charging and ground support equipment at locations supporting Surf Air Mobility's fleet operations. Surf Air Mobility intends to designate BETA as its preferred supplier for electric ground infrastructure.

BETA Technologies has accumulated more than 100,000 nautical miles of flight experience with its ALIA aircraft family, which includes both conventional takeoff and landing variants and vertical takeoff and landing configurations.
