Sunrun Inc. (NASDAQ: RUN) announced a partnership with Tesla Electric (NASDAQ: TSLA) to offer a combined home energy plan for Texas residents with Sunrun Flex solar and storage systems.

The Tesla Electric + Sunrun Flex plan provides customers with fixed electricity rates and sellback rates for excess solar energy returned to the grid. The plan includes Tesla Powerwall batteries for backup power during outages and allows participation in Tesla's Virtual Power Plant program.

"This partnership creates the most compelling and comprehensive home energy solution on the market for Texas consumers," said Sunrun CEO Mary Powell. "Pairing Tesla's custom electric plan with Sunrun Flex results in a superior customer experience and unparalleled energy independence."

The plan features coordinated battery settings and solar crediting managed by Tesla, along with rollover credits for customers who use less energy than their baseline allocation. Sunrun Flex subscriptions include system monitoring, maintenance, repairs, and performance guarantees.

"With Tesla Electric, we're building energy plans that unlock the full value of home solar and storage—optimized rates, seamless backup, and participation in grid services through virtual power plants," said Colby Hastings, Director of Residential Energy at Tesla.

The plan is available to Sunrun Flex customers in Texas areas with retail electricity choice. Tesla Electric operates through Tesla Energy Ventures, LLC, a Tesla subsidiary with retail electric provider license REP #10296.

Texas has more than 100 retail electric providers offering various rate structures. The companies stated their joint plan aims to simplify the market for customers with solar and storage systems.
