Snowflake (NYSE: SNOW) announced that Brian Robins will join the company as Chief Financial Officer effective September 22. Robins will lead the global finance organization and shape financial strategies to support the company's growth.
Current CFO Mike Scarpelli will retire on the same date but remain with Snowflake temporarily to ensure continuity before transitioning to an advisory role, according to the company's statement.
Robins has served as CFO of GitLab Inc. since October 2020, overseeing financial, data and business systems functions. His previous CFO roles include positions at Sisense, Cylance, AlienVault, and Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN). He currently serves on the GitLab Foundation Board of Directors and the Board of Directors of ID.me as audit committee chair.
"Brian's deep commitment to operational rigor and long-term high growth aligns perfectly with the strategic direction of Snowflake," said CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy.
Robins holds a bachelor's degree in Finance from Lipscomb University and an MBA from Vanderbilt University. He also serves as a special advisor at Brighton Park Capital and on the Advisory Council at ForgePoint Capital Cybersecurity.
The appointment comes as Snowflake continues to position itself in the artificial intelligence market. The company serves more than 12,000 customers globally through its AI Data Cloud platform.
