SciSparc files Israeli patent for depression treatment combination therapy
SciSparc Ltd. (NASDAQ: SPRC) announced that its majority-owned subsidiary NeuroThera Labs Inc. (TSXV: NTLX) filed an Israeli patent application for a combination therapy targeting depression treatment. The filing covers a treatment combining 5-methoxy-2-aminoindane (MEAI) and N-Acylethanolamines, such as Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA).
The patent application stems from NeuroThera's collaboration with Clearmind Medicine Inc. (NASDAQ: CMND). SciSparc holds approximately 75% controlling interest in NeuroThera Labs, a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company developing treatments for central nervous system disorders.
The World Health Organization reported in August 2025 that major depressive disorder affects approximately 332 million people worldwide, representing an estimated 5.7% of adults globally. The condition remains one of the leading causes of disability worldwide.
This filing expands the joint intellectual property portfolio between the collaborating companies. The partnership has filed 13 patents focusing on MEAI and N-Acylethanolamines combinations for conditions including alcohol use disorder, cocaine addiction, obesity and weight loss, and depression.
SciSparc, through NeuroThera Labs, focuses on clinical-stage pharmaceutical developments based on cannabinoid pharmaceuticals. The company's current drug development programs include SCI-110 for Tourette syndrome, Alzheimer's disease and agitation treatment, and SCI-210 for autism spectrum disorder and status epilepticus treatment.
