SciSparc and Clearmind publish patent application for binge disorders
SciSparc Ltd. (NASDAQ: SPRC) announced that its collaboration with Clearmind Medicine Inc. (NASDAQ: CMND) resulted in the publication of a U.S. patent application by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The patent application covers a combination therapy using MEAI (5-methoxy-2-aminoindane) and N-Acylethanolamines, including Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), for treating binge behavior disorders.
The patent application addresses multiple binge behaviors including excessive alcohol consumption, eating disorders, tobacco use, compulsive shopping, and problematic sexual conduct. The combination therapy utilizes MEAI's psychedelic properties to reduce impulsivity and reward-seeking behavior, while incorporating PEA's anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects.
The collaboration between the two companies focuses on PEA-MEAI combinations for conditions including alcohol use disorder, cocaine addiction, obesity, and depression. According to the company's statement, preclinical data supports the therapy's potential efficacy in reducing binge episodes while maintaining natural reward pathways.
