Satellos Bioscience Inc. (TSX: MSCL, OTCQB: MSCLF) appointed Antoinette Paone as Chief Development Officer and Head of Regulatory Affairs. The clinical-stage biotechnology company develops treatments for degenerative muscle diseases.

Paone joins from Generation Bio (NASDAQ: GBIO), where she served as Chief Operating Officer. She led the company's growth from startup to development-ready organization, overseeing regulatory strategy, quality, CMC, technical operations, and program management. She was part of the executive team during equity financings over four years, including an IPO and strategic partnership with Moderna.

Before Generation Bio, Paone spent over a decade at Vertex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: VRTX) as Vice President, Head of North American Regulatory Affairs Strategy. She led regulatory efforts for cystic fibrosis therapies including Kalydeco and Orkambi. Earlier roles included positions at Merck & Co. and Millennium Pharmaceuticals.

"With our two clinical studies in DMD advancing in adult and pediatric populations, the possibility of pursuing regulatory approval for SAT-3247 in the future is beginning to come into view," said Frank Gleeson, Satellos co-founder and CEO.

Paone holds an MBA from Bentley College, an MS in Organic Chemistry from Yale University, and a BS in Chemistry from Fordham University.

Satellos is developing SAT-3247, an oral small molecule drug designed to address muscle repair and regeneration deficits. The compound targets AAK1, a protein the company identified as capable of restoring muscle stem cell signaling disrupted in Duchenne muscular dystrophy. SAT-3247 is currently in clinical development as a potential disease-modifying treatment for DMD.
