Sands China reaches 1.1 billion visitors across Macao properties
Sands China Ltd. (HKEx: 1928) announced it has welcomed over 1.1 billion visitors to its properties in Macao, marking a milestone in the company's operations spanning more than two decades.
The company celebrated the achievement with a ceremony at The Venetian Macao, which also marked the property's 18th anniversary. Executive Vice Chairman Dr. Wilfred Wong and Chief Executive Officer Grant Chum presented surprises to the 1.1 billionth guest during the event.
Sands China began operations in Macao in 2004 with the opening of Sands Macao. The company subsequently developed properties along the Cotai Strip, including The Venetian Macao in 2007, The Plaza Macao in 2008, Sands Cotai Central in 2012, and The Parisian Macao in 2016. Sands Cotai Central was later transformed into The Londoner Macao.
The company has invested more than MOP 134.5 billion in Macao. Its integrated resorts feature over 10,000 hotel rooms, 150 dining options, and 760 retail outlets. The properties include meeting and convention facilities spanning more than 150,000 square meters, along with two arenas and four theaters with combined seating capacity exceeding 25,000.
"Surpassing 1.1 billion arrivals is not only a significant milestone for the company, but also a testament to the popularity of Macao's tourism offerings," said Dr. Wong.
Sands China employs 27,000 team members and works with over 2,500 suppliers. The company is a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS).
