SOPHiA GENETICS (NASDAQ: SOPH) announced an expanded multi-year collaboration with AstraZeneca (Nasdaq: AZN) to use artificial intelligence for breast cancer treatment research. The partnership will utilize SOPHiA GENETICS's multimodal AI Factories to analyze healthcare data and generate evidence on therapy efficacy for certain breast cancer types.
The collaboration aims to develop an AI-powered predictive model designed to optimize treatment outcomes for breast cancer patients. AstraZeneca will use SOPHiA GENETICS's AI technology to analyze multimodal healthcare data, including genomics, imaging, and clinical information.
The companies plan to generate real-world evidence in Europe and North America to identify treatment efficacy drivers and support clinical decision-making. SOPHiA GENETICS's AI Factories are trained on multimodal healthcare datasets and provide predictive insights for patient prognosis and treatment response assessment.
"We are proud to deepen our partnership with AstraZeneca through this significant new initiative, which highlights the growing demand for secure, compliant, and scalable real-world AI applications," said Ross Muken, President of SOPHiA GENETICS.
Jorge Reis-Filho, Chief AI and Data Scientist at AstraZeneca, stated that the collaboration supports the company's AI strategy in oncology clinical development. "Fine tuning and augmenting our models with multimodal data is helping us to generate a more holistic understanding of disease biology and biomarkers to tailor the most effective treatment to patients living with cancer," he said.
The announcement was made according to a press release statement from the companies.
