ReAlta Life Sciences appoints Jonathan Rigby to board of directors

ReAlta Life Sciences Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, announced the appointment of Jonathan Rigby to its board of directors.



Rigby currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Sernova Biotherapeutics. He previously held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer at Revolo Biotherapeutics, where he led the company through financings totaling over $150 million and two Phase 2 clinical trials.



His public company experience includes roles as Chairman and Chief Business Officer of BIOS Acquisition Corporation (NASDAQ: BIOS) and board member of Xeris Pharma (NASDAQ: XERS). As Chief Executive Officer of SteadyMed Therapeutics (NASDAQ: STDY), Rigby developed Trevyent for pulmonary arterial hypertension treatment before the company's acquisition by United Therapeutics (NASDAQ: UTHR) for approximately $350 million.



Rigby co-founded Zogenix, which went public on NASDAQ (NASDAQ: ZGNX) and was later acquired by UCB Pharma for approximately $2 billion. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Sheffield and an MBA from the University of Portsmouth.



"ReAlta is focused on very serious medical problems such as Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy in newborn babies," Rigby stated in the press release. He expressed enthusiasm about the company's lead candidate pegtarazimod and its dual mechanism targeting neutrophil-driven inflammation and complement activation.



ReAlta develops treatments for inflammation-driven diseases. The company's lead candidate, pegtarazimod, has received FDA Orphan Drug and Fast Track Designations for Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy and acute Graft vs Host Disease, along with EMA Orphan Drug Designations for both conditions.
