PowerBank Corporation (NASDAQ: SUUN) announced a $500,000 strategic investment in Orbit AI following the successful launch of the "Orbit AI Genesis" satellite in December 2025. The investment includes an option for PowerBank to contribute an additional $500,000 within 12 months.
The Genesis satellite launched on December 10, 2025, and operates at an altitude of approximately 547 kilometers, completing an orbit every 95 minutes. The satellite integrates blockchain validation with AI computing capabilities in space, utilizing solar power and passive radiative cooling systems.
"The successful operation of the Genesis satellite has turned a paradigm-shifting concept into a verified reality," said Dr. Richard Lu, CEO of PowerBank. "This $500,000 investment, and the provisions for future expansion, is a testament to our long-term commitment to building a sovereign, AI-driven digital layer that operates beyond terrestrial limitations."
Patrick Zhou, CEO of Smartlink AI, stated the company aims to deploy 5,000 satellites by 2030. Orbit AI operates at the intersection of satellite communications, AI infrastructure, and blockchain technology.
PowerBank disclosed that Orbit AI's Chief Financial Officer is related to PowerBank's CEO Dr. Richard Lu, who abstained from voting on the transaction approval. The Toronto-based company develops solar and battery energy storage projects across Canada and the United States, with over 100 megawatts built and a development pipeline exceeding one gigawatt.
The collaboration framework establishes PowerBank's role in supporting solar energy systems and thermal control solutions for future Orbit AI missions, positioning the company as both investor and technology partner in the orbital infrastructure sector.
