Pilot Company, General Motors (NYSE: GM) and EVgo Inc. (NASDAQ: EVGO) announced their charging network has expanded to more than 200 locations across nearly 40 states. The companies have deployed approximately 850 electric vehicle fast charging stalls at Pilot and Flying J travel centers over the past two years.
The network expansion increased from 25 states to nearly 40 states in under a year, according to the companies' statement. New states added to the network include Colorado, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming, with expansion in Texas, Missouri and Florida.
The collaboration targets interstate travel corridors that carry more than 20 percent of total U.S. traffic. The charging stations feature 350kW fast-chargers and amenities including Wi-Fi, restaurants and convenience items. Many locations include overhead canopies and pull-through stalls for vehicles towing trailers.
The companies first announced their partnership in 2022 with a goal of building up to 2,000 fast charging stalls at up to 500 Pilot and Flying J locations across the United States. They anticipate reaching 1,000 stalls across 40 states by the end of 2025.
Pilot operates more than 900 locations in 44 states and five Canadian provinces and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. EVgo operates more than 1,100 fast charging stations across over 40 states. General Motors offers electric vehicles across its Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac brands.
