Pacific Gas and Electric Company (NYSE: PCG) appointed Chelle Izzi as chief commercial officer, effective immediately, according to a company statement. The newly created role focuses on serving large commercial and industrial customers and managing strategic partnerships.

Izzi brings over 25 years of experience in the clean energy sector, including positions at Constellation, CPower, NextEra Energy Resources, and Walmart. Her background includes work in competitive retail markets, infrastructure development, and experience as a major PG&E customer.

"PG&E's electric demand will reach new levels as large commercial customers bring projects online and electrify their vehicle fleets," Izzi said in the statement. "Meeting this transformational moment requires a strategic and streamlined approach to deliver for these high-growth customers."

The utility expects electricity demand on its grid to approximately double by 2040, driven by customers in technology, agriculture, retail, education, manufacturing and government sectors. Data centers could add up to 10 gigawatts of demand, equivalent to powering 7.5 million homes.

PG&E projects that increased load from large customers could reduce rates for all customers by spreading fixed operations and maintenance costs across a broader base. The company estimates that every 1 gigawatt of new data center demand could decrease customer bills by 1% to 2%, while adding 1 million electric vehicles to the grid would reduce bills by at least 1%.

Izzi previously launched initiatives including Walmart's public EV charging network, the zero-emission fleet network Greenlane, and NextEra Mobility. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.

PG&E serves more than 16 million people across 70,000 square miles in Northern and Central California.
