Northisle appoints Kevin O'Kane as COO, promotes Nicholas Van Dyk
Northisle Copper and Gold Inc. (TSX-V: NCX) announced the appointment of Kevin O'Kane as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer while continuing as a non-independent director. Nicholas Van Dyk was promoted to Executive Vice President and will continue as Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary.
O'Kane brings more than 40 years of mining industry experience, including 37 years at BHP Billiton where he worked on copper mines including Spence, Cerro Colorado, and Minera Escondida. From 2018 to 2020, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of SSR Mining Inc. He began his career at the Island Copper Mine, located adjacent to Northisle's North Island Project.
O'Kane currently serves on several company boards including Iamgold Corporation, Autlan and Intellisense.io. He stated he intends to reduce this work to focus on Northisle.
The company also announced that Chief Geoscientist Robin Tolbert will retire effective September 13, 2025 and continue as an advisor.
O'Kane will remain on Northisle's board until a replacement is identified but has stepped down from the Corporate Governance, Compensation and Nominating Committee. Alex Davidson was appointed to the committee in his place.
Northisle owns the North Island Project, a copper and gold porphyry deposit located near Port Hardy, British Columbia on more than 34,000 hectares of mineral titles. The company recently completed an updated preliminary economic assessment for the project and states it is funded through completion of a pre-feasibility study.
