North American Niobium and Critical Minerals Corp. (CSE: NIOB) (FSE: KS82.F) (OTCQB: NIOMF) appointed Olivier Tavchandjian to its board of directors, according to a company statement.

Tavchandjian serves as Senior Vice President, Exploration and Technical Services at Hudbay Minerals Inc., where he leads exploration strategy and oversees technical governance across global operations and development projects. He brings more than 35 years of experience in mineral resource estimation, exploration strategy and technical evaluation.

Before joining Hudbay, Tavchandjian worked as Vice President, Resource Evaluation at Anemka Resources and held management positions at ArcelorMittal, Vale and Inco. He holds a Ph.D. in Mineral Resources from the University of Québec at Chicoutimi and is registered as a Professional Geoscientist with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario.

"His depth of experience in resource estimation, exploration strategy, and the advancement of complex mining projects will be a valuable asset as we continue to position North American Niobium as a future supplier of a critical mineral," said Murray Nye, chief executive officer.

The company plans to establish a Technical Committee to provide oversight and guidance for evaluation and advancement of its exploration and critical mineral properties. North American Niobium recently completed flow-through financings totaling $4.8 million to fund its 2026 exploration program.

The company granted stock options to Tavchandjian exercisable at $1.20 per share for five years, vesting over 16 months. The shares will be subject to a four-month hold period.

North American Niobium focuses on precious, base and critical mineral assets, including the Silver Lake property in British Columbia and properties in Quebec's Grenville Province with rare earth elements, niobium and nickel-copper occurrences.
