NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS partners with Airlinq for global IoT connectivity
NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS and Airlinq have formed a strategic partnership to deliver global Internet of Things connectivity solutions across markets with varying telecommunications regulations, according to a press release from the companies.
The partnership combines NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS's experience in global IoT services with Airlinq's connectivity management platform and local carrier relationships. The collaboration aims to address regulatory challenges that can limit long-term roaming usage by foreign operators without local licenses in certain markets.
The companies will provide unified SIM and connectivity management across countries and carriers, flexible profile switching using eSIM technology, and regulatory compliance support through collaboration with local carriers. These services target enterprises deploying IoT devices in mobility sectors including automotive, construction machinery, and agricultural equipment.
Under the partnership structure, NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS will lead overall solution provision and project governance, while Airlinq will provide its connectivity management platform, coordinate with local carriers, and support regulatory compliance efforts.
"In areas such as automotive, securing stable, global connectivity has become essential for IoT-driven services and business," said Kazuo Komine, Senior Vice President at NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS. The partnership will enable "compliant, stable, and flexible mobile IoT connectivity across diverse regulatory environments."
Sunil Kaul, CEO of Airlinq, stated that "global IoT scale is no longer limited by technology, but by regulation" and the partnership aims to remove regulatory barriers for enterprise IoT deployments.
The collaboration will support the full lifecycle of IoT deployments from pre-deployment planning to post-deployment operations. NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, formerly NTT Communications Corporation, changed its name in July 2025.
