Lucid Group Inc. (NASDAQ: LCID), Nuro Inc. and Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE: UBER) unveiled their production intent robotaxi vehicles at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The companies announced autonomous on-road testing began in December in the San Francisco Bay Area, with Nuro leading the testing using engineering prototypes supervised by autonomous vehicle operators. The robotaxi service is expected to launch in the San Francisco Bay Area later in 2026.
The robotaxi is based on the Lucid Gravity electric vehicle and features a sensor array with high-resolution cameras, solid-state lidar sensors and radars providing 360-degree perception. The vehicle includes a roof-mounted module with integrated LEDs to help riders identify their vehicle and receive status updates.
Interior features include interactive screens allowing riders to control climate settings, music and support functions, plus in-vehicle visualization showing the robotaxi's planned path and real-time maneuvers. The vehicle can accommodate up to six passengers with luggage space.
The system uses NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor computing platform for AI processing and autonomous driving functions.
"The debut of our production intent robotaxi with Lucid and Uber is a significant milestone on our path to delivering autonomy at scale," said Dave Ferguson, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Nuro.
Pending final validation, production of the robotaxi is expected to begin at Lucid's Arizona factory later this year. The vehicle is on display at NVIDIA's CES showcase through January 8.
The information is based on a press release statement from the companies.
