January 9, 2026 12:00 PM EST

Lucent Health, a third-party administrator for health benefits, announced the appointment of Aadam Hussain as chief executive officer effective January 5, 2026, according to a company statement.

Hussain replaces co-founder Brett Rodewald, who retired as CEO after 11 years and will remain on the company's board of directors. Rodewald stated he was "proud of what we've built together, and confident in the company's future."

The new CEO brings more than 20 years of experience in healthcare and self-funded benefits. Hussain previously served as CEO of Healthcare Management Administrators, where he oversaw strategy, plan administration, client services, member engagement, regulatory compliance, and operations for the national third-party administrator.

Prior to that role, Hussain held senior executive positions at Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah, Cambia Health Solutions, and Change Healthcare.

"Self-insured employer groups are facing unprecedented costs, and our role as a trusted third-party administrator has never been more important," Hussain said in the statement. "We'll stay focused on transparency, accountability, and integrated solutions that deliver measurable value, while deepening our collaboration with brokers and consultants."

Lucent Health provides plan administration, concierge care, pharmacy services, and care management for self-insured employers. The Nashville-based company describes itself as one of the nation's largest independent third-party administrators.
