The surgeon received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He earned an MBA from Washington University's Olin School of Business.

Longeveron's lead investigational product is laromestrocel, a mesenchymal stem cell therapy derived from bone marrow of adult donors. The company is pursuing treatments for hypoplastic left heart syndrome, Alzheimer's disease, pediatric dilated cardiomyopathy and aging-related frailty.

The company's hypoplastic left heart syndrome program has received FDA orphan drug, fast track and rare pediatric disease designations. Its Alzheimer's program has received regenerative medicine advanced therapy and fast track designations from the FDA.
