JetBlue and United complete federal review of Blue Sky partnership

July 29, 2025 6:31 AM EDT

JetBlue Airways Corp. (NASDAQ: JBLU) and United Airlines Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: UAL) announced they completed the U.S. Department of Transportation review of their Blue Sky collaboration and can proceed with implementation.

The partnership will allow customers of both airlines to earn and use loyalty program rewards across both carriers' networks. United MileagePlus customers will earn and use miles on JetBlue flights, while JetBlue TrueBlue members can earn and use points on United's domestic and international routes.

The collaboration includes a traditional interline agreement enabling each airline to sell flights on the other's website and mobile app. Customers will access loyalty program benefits including priority boarding, complimentary preferred seating, and same-day flight changes when traveling on either airline.

JetBlue will provide United access to slots at John F. Kennedy International Airport for up to seven daily round-trip flights from JFK Terminal 6 beginning as early as 2027. The airlines will exchange eight flight timings at Newark Liberty International Airport in what they describe as a net-neutral arrangement.

United will transition its website and mobile app services for hotels, rental cars, cruises and travel insurance to technology provided by JetBlue's Paisly platform.

The companies stated that Blue Sky benefits will begin rolling out this fall in phases. Both airlines said they will share additional implementation details in coming weeks, according to the joint press release.
