JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) and Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) announced a strategic partnership to provide new cryptocurrency access features for customers.
The partnership will introduce three main features. Chase customers will be able to directly link their bank accounts to Coinbase wallets through JPMorgan's API. The companies will also enable Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfers to Coinbase accounts at a one-to-one ratio, with 100 points equaling $1.00 in redemption value. Additionally, customers will gain the ability to fund Coinbase accounts using Chase credit cards.
The direct bank-to-wallet connection and Ultimate Rewards transfer features are expected to launch in 2026. The credit card funding capability is scheduled for fall 2025.
"This partnership marks a significant step forward in empowering our customers to take control of their financial futures," said Melissa Feldsher, Head of Payments and Lending Innovation for JPMorgan Chase. "By joining forces with Coinbase, we are enhancing the security and privacy of our customers' data, allowing them to use their money and rewards in new and exciting ways."
Max Branzburg, Head of Consumer & Business Products at Coinbase, stated the partnership aims to "expand choice and lower barriers to entry for consumers to participate in the future of financial services onchain."
The announcement represents Chase Ultimate Rewards becoming the first major credit card rewards program to fund a crypto wallet, according to the companies' joint statement.
