Impulse Dynamics, a medical device company focused on heart failure treatments, appointed Richard J. Buchholz as chief financial officer effective March 2, 2026.

Buchholz previously served as CFO at Inspire Medical Systems (NYSE: INSP) for over a decade, where he led the finance team through the company's initial public offering in May 2018 and achievement of full-year profitability in 2024. During his tenure at Inspire, he helped raise $425 million in public equity offerings and $80 million in private equity financing. The company's revenue grew from $3.8 million in 2014 to over $910 million in 2025 under his financial oversight.

Before joining Inspire in June 2014, Buchholz worked as CFO of superDimension from 2006 until its acquisition by Covidien in 2013. He currently serves on the board of directors and chairs the audit committee at Shoulder Innovations (NYSE: SI), which completed its IPO in July 2025.

The appointment follows Impulse Dynamics' completion of a $158 million financing round. The company stated the funds will support commercialization efforts, product development, and clinical trials including the INTEGRA-D and AIM HIGHer studies.

Impulse Dynamics develops the Optimizer system, which delivers cardiac contractility modulation therapy to heart failure patients. The therapy received a National Coverage Determination from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in October 2025, establishing coverage and reimbursement guidelines.

The company's CCM therapy is indicated for certain heart failure patients with specific clinical criteria and has been used by more than 12,000 patients in clinical trials and commercial use.
