Housing Connector and Zillow help 10,000 people find homes

October 9, 2025 10:33 AM EDT

Housing Connector, a nonprofit organization, and Zillow Group Inc. (NASDAQ: Z and ZG) announced they have helped 10,000 individuals find stable housing through their partnership addressing homelessness.

The collaboration, which began as a local initiative in Seattle in 2019, has expanded to operate in 8 markets across 7 states. The partnership uses Housing Connector's platform integrated with Zillow's rental technology to connect community organizations with property owners who have adjusted their screening criteria for vacant units.

"This milestone proves that we can re-imagine housing access in America," said Shkëlqim Kelmendi, founder and CEO of Housing Connector. "By transforming how the private market engages with public need, we've shown that solving homelessness requires innovation, accountability, and courage to do things differently."

Jennifer Butler, vice president of government and community relations at Zillow, stated the milestone demonstrates what is possible when government, nonprofits, and the private sector work toward making housing more accessible.

Housing Connector reports its model addresses both preventing homelessness and helping people exit homelessness by unlocking vacant rental units and preventing evictions. The organization operates at an average annual cost of $1,000 per household, compared to what it describes as a $40,000 annual public system cost to support an unhoused person.

The organization plans to expand to 15 markets and serve 30,000 people over the next three years. Housing Connector and Zillow will host an event on October 9 in Seattle to commemorate the milestone.

Zillow Group operates real estate platforms including Zillow, Trulia, and StreetEasy, and describes itself as the most visited real estate website and app in the United States.
