Hitachi Vantara appoints Adrian Johnson as chief revenue officer

Hitachi Vantara, the data storage subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd. (TSE: 6501), appointed Adrian Johnson as chief revenue officer effective immediately, according to a company statement.

Johnson previously served as senior vice president and general manager for the Americas and Asia Pacific regions. In his new role, he will oversee global sales strategy and go-to-market execution for the company's products and services, including the Virtual Storage Platform One unified data platform.

Johnson joined Hitachi Vantara in 2019 as vice president and managing director for Australia and New Zealand. The company said he helped grow that business 30% year-over-year. He was promoted to vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific in 2022, then to senior vice president covering both Americas and Asia Pacific in 2024.

"Adrian brings a wealth of experience that's essential to achieving our goals as a company, particularly as we strengthen our sales discipline and grow our block storage business," said Sheila Rohra, Hitachi Vantara's chief executive officer.

The company cited market research indicating the AI-powered storage market is expected to grow at a 25.58% compound annual growth rate until 2032.

Johnson has more than 20 years of leadership experience across software-as-a-service, cloud, data management and infrastructure sectors. Before joining Hitachi Vantara, he held senior positions at Liferay Inc., Dell, Fuji Xerox and Sun Microsystems. He holds a master's degree in business and IT from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Johnson will report directly to Rohra and serve on the company's executive committee. He will be based in Santa Clara, California.
