Fiserv Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV) and Mastercard Inc. (NYSE: MA) announced an expanded partnership to advance agentic commerce for merchants through AI-driven payment solutions.
Fiserv will become one of the first major payment processors to implement Mastercard's Agent Pay Acceptance Framework at scale. The framework establishes secure protocols for AI agents to conduct transactions on behalf of customers using tokenization, authentication, fraud prevention and governance controls.
Under the partnership, Fiserv will integrate with Mastercard's Secure Card on File solution to serve as a network token requestor for merchants and partners. This integration uses Mastercard's tokenization technology to process secure transactions across the payment ecosystem.
The collaboration aims to enable merchants to participate in autonomous commerce while maintaining control over customer relationships. The framework provides tools for merchants to access new revenue opportunities through AI-enabled payment processing.
"Fiserv and Mastercard are working together to establish the foundation for secure, intelligent, and interoperable agentic commerce experiences," said Sanjay Saraf, senior vice president and global chief product officer of merchant solutions at Fiserv.
Chiro Aikat, co-president of U.S. operations at Mastercard, stated that "agentic commerce is transforming payments by creating smarter, more intuitive experiences for both merchants and consumers."
The companies previously collaborated on stablecoin adoption initiatives and expanding Mastercard's Small Business Navigator program. The information is based on a company press release.
