FirstEnergy Corp.'s (NYSE: FE) three Ohio subsidiaries will conduct a competitive bidding process to procure power supply contracts for their Standard Service Offer customers, with an auction scheduled for January 20, 2026.
The Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison subsidiaries will use a descending-price clock auction format to select suppliers. CRA International, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRAI) will manage the auction process, which has received approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
An information session for prospective bidders is scheduled for November 24, 2025. Part 1 applications from potential bidders will be accepted starting November 25, 2025, with submissions due by December 11, 2025. Successful Part 1 applicants can submit Part 2 applications beginning December 18, 2025.
The auction will determine suppliers for full requirements service contracts that provide electricity to customers who do not choose alternative retail suppliers. These standard service arrangements serve as the default electricity supply option for residential and small commercial customers in the utilities' service territories.
