Ecopetrol faces labor renegotiations as nine unions file complaints
Ecopetrol S.A. (NYSE: EC) announced that nine labor organizations have initiated renegotiations of their collective bargaining agreement chapters by filing complaints with Colombia's Ministry of Labor.
The labor organizations include Adeco, Sindispetrol, Asopetrogas, Asteco, Trasine, Asintrahc, Sintramen, Sup, and Utipec. These filings follow a previous complaint submitted by Unión Sindical Obrera (USO) on December 24, 2025, as previously disclosed by the company.
Under Colombian Labor Code provisions, parties to collective bargaining agreements may request amendments by filing complaints with the Ministry of Labor within legally established timeframes.
The company stated it remains committed to "open, respectful, and constructive dialogue" to reach agreements that support worker well-being and sustainable solutions.
Ecopetrol operates as Colombia's largest company and employs more than 19,000 workers. The company is responsible for more than 60% of Colombia's hydrocarbon production and holds positions in petrochemicals and gas distribution. Through its acquisition of 51.4% of ISA's shares, Ecopetrol participates in energy transmission and highway concessions.
The company maintains international operations in the United States, Brazil, and Mexico, with drilling and exploration activities in the Permian basin and Gulf of Mexico.
