Ecopetrol employees elect Cesar Eduardo Loza Arenas to board

Ecopetrol S.A. (NYSE: EC) announced that its employees have elected Cesar Eduardo Loza Arenas as their representative to the company's Board of Directors. Loza Arenas will serve as the seventh director on the slate of nominees proposed by the Government of Colombia.



The election was conducted in accordance with Ecopetrol's Articles of Association, which provide for employee representation on the board. The formalization of the complete slate of nominees proposed by the Colombian government remains subject to the completion of certain corporate procedures, according to the company's statement.



Ecopetrol is Colombia's largest company and operates as an integrated energy company with more than 19,000 employees. The company is responsible for more than 60% of Colombia's hydrocarbon production and maintains operations in transportation, logistics, and refining systems.



The company also holds positions in petrochemicals and gas distribution segments domestically. Through its 51.4% acquisition of ISA's shares, Ecopetrol participates in energy transmission and manages real-time systems, as well as the Barranquilla-Cartagena coastal highway concession.



Internationally, Ecopetrol operates in strategic basins across the Americas, with drilling and exploration operations in the United States, Brazil, and Mexico. Through ISA and its subsidiaries, the company maintains positions in power transmission across Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Bolivia, along with road concessions in Chile and telecommunications sector involvement.
