E3 Lithium partners with Germany's TKMS for defense supply chain
E3 Lithium Ltd. (TSXV: ETL) has signed a teaming agreement with Germany's TKMS, a naval vessel provider, to establish cooperation for Canada's Patrol Submarine Project and integrate Canadian lithium into defense supply chains.
The agreement creates a framework for research, technology transfer and potential investment aligned with Canada's Industrial and Technological Benefits policy. TKMS is participating in the competitive procurement process for Canada's submarine program, which aims to acquire up to 12 Arctic-capable submarines.
"Partnering with TKMS allows us to connect Canada's critical minerals industry with strategic global markets, while supporting a transformative national defense program," said Chris Doornbos, President and CEO of E3 Lithium.
The collaboration supports potential supply to German and allied industrial customers and aims to create a supply chain for Canada's submarine program and international opportunities. The parties will explore strategic investment and financing pathways to support scaling Canadian lithium production for strategic applications.
E3 Lithium is developing its Clearwater Project in Alberta, which will extract lithium from brines using proprietary Direct Lithium Extraction technology. The company has proposed a staged development plan with initial capacity of 12,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate per year, with potential expansion to 36,000 tonnes annually.
The company reports total mineral resources of 21.2 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent measured and indicated, plus 0.3 million tonnes inferred resources in Alberta. The Clearwater Pre-Feasibility Study outlined 1.13 million tonnes proven and probable mineral reserves.
TKMS operates as a systems supplier for submarines and naval surface vessels with more than 9,100 employees at shipyards in Kiel, Wismar and Brazil, along with worldwide locations.
