Dragonfly Energy Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: DFLI) announced the publication of a whitepaper developed with PACCAR Inc. (NASDAQ: PCAR) examining lithium-powered solutions for reducing truck idling and fuel costs.
The whitepaper, titled "Reducing Idle Time & Fuel Costs: Lithium Powered Solutions for Commercial Fleets," evaluates the performance of lithium-powered idle-reduction systems compared to traditional diesel and AGM battery alternatives. The study incorporates fleet trial data and testing conducted at the PACCAR Technical Center.
According to the companies, the research examined all-electric auxiliary power units and hybrid systems, including Dragonfly Energy's Battle Born DualFlow Power Pack. Testing was performed under various operating conditions to validate the technology's performance.
"We believe idle reduction remains one of the most immediate and cost-effective ways fleets can reduce fuel consumption and emissions while improving driver comfort," said Wade Seaburg, chief commercial officer at Dragonfly Energy.
Dr. Philip Stephenson, general manager of the PACCAR Technical Center, stated the collaboration allowed evaluation of "lithium-powered idling mitigation solutions aimed at lowering idle times, extending non-idling sleeper climate control operation and reducing fuel consumption."
The whitepaper identifies potential benefits including fuel and cost savings, extended driver rest periods without engine restarts, reduced maintenance costs, and extended engine life through decreased idle wear.
Seaburg presented the findings at The Battery Show North America 2025 in Detroit. The full whitepaper is available on the Battle Born Batteries website.
Dragonfly Energy specializes in lithium battery technology and operates the Battle Born Batteries brand. PACCAR designs and manufactures commercial trucks globally.
