Dow Jones appointed Sarah Cottle as executive vice president and general manager of Dow Jones Energy, the company announced. Cottle will oversee the company's energy, chemical and environmental commodity market offerings, including OPIS, Chemical Market Analytics, PetroChem Wire, McCloskey, A2i Systems and Eco-Movement.

Cottle reports to Almar Latour, CEO of Dow Jones and publisher of The Wall Street Journal. She joined the company from S&P Global, where she served as general manager and senior vice president, Global Head of Data and Insights for the S&P Global Market Intelligence business.

Prior to that role, Cottle spent eight years at S&P Global Platts working with energy and commodity market customers. Her background includes senior management positions scaling news, data and analytics businesses. Before S&P Global, she led editorial teams at ICIS, Bloomberg and CNBC.

Cottle began her career in journalism as a markets reporter for Dow Jones in Singapore, covering commodities across Asia Pacific. She later led global energy coverage from London and reported on telecoms, media and technology from Paris for Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal.

"Sarah will be critical to navigating a particularly dynamic time in this fast-moving and complex marketplace," Latour said. "Reliable, proprietary energy data—from fossil fuels to nuclear to renewables—is incredibly valuable to leaders and investors across industries."

Dow Jones is a division of News Corp (NASDAQ: NWS, NWSA).
