Star Mountain Capital announced that Donald Raymond has joined the investment firm as a senior advisor. Raymond previously served as chief investment strategist at Qatar Investment Authority and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

Star Mountain Capital manages approximately $4.5 billion in assets under management and focuses on lower middle-market investments. The employee-owned firm operates two core strategies: direct investments providing debt and equity capital to established businesses, and secondary investments acquiring LP interests and direct assets.

Raymond brings over 30 years of global investment experience across public and private markets. At CPP Investments, he served as the first chief investment strategist and helped develop the organization's Total Portfolio Approach. He oversaw growth of the public markets portfolio from $11 billion in passively managed funds to $100 billion in actively managed assets.

Before his role at CPP Investments, Raymond worked at Goldman Sachs as a fixed income strategist in Toronto and later in global equity and fixed income portfolio management in New York. He also worked for Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB) in China earlier in his career.

Raymond previously served as managing partner and chief investment officer of Alignvest Management Corporation, an alternative investment management firm. He has held governance roles including chair of the board of trustees at Queen's University Endowment and board director at Great West LifeCo (TSX: GWO).

He currently advises the central banks of Singapore and Thailand and serves as an adjunct professor of finance at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. Raymond holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Queen's University and is a CFA charterholder.

The information is based on a company press release.
