Currenc Group names founder Alex Kong as new CEO

Currenc Group Inc. (NASDAQ: CURR) announced that Dr. Ronnie Hui has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer. Alex Kong, the company's founder and Executive Chairman, will assume the CEO position.
Kong previously served as CEO of the Singapore-based fintech company before transitioning to Executive Chairman. The company develops artificial intelligence solutions for financial institutions, including digital remittance platforms and AI-powered call center technology.
"On behalf of the Board and executive team, I would like to thank Ronnie for his leadership and dedication to Currenc throughout his tenure," Kong said in a statement. "Ronnie has skillfully guided the Company through a period of significant evolution, navigating various market challenges with confidence and clarity."
The company stated that Kong's background as founder positions him to continue the company's growth initiatives and expand its global AI ecosystem for financial institutions. Currenc's services include AI call center solutions and payment platforms used by banks, insurance companies, telecommunications firms and government agencies.
The leadership transition comes as the company continues to develop AI-powered financial solutions and digital remittance services for e-wallets, remittance companies and corporations seeking real-time global payment capabilities.
