Commerce (NASDAQ: CMRC) announced the launch of BigCommerce Payments, a new embedded payment processing solution for BigCommerce merchants powered by PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL). The service is scheduled for a U.S. launch in 2026, with international expansion planned for subsequent phases.

The payment solution will be integrated directly into the BigCommerce Control Panel, offering merchants access to payment capabilities and buy now, pay later options through PayPal's Pay Later service. Merchants will maintain their direct payment relationship with PayPal while accessing services through the BigCommerce platform.

BigCommerce Payments will feature a dedicated "Money" dashboard within the BigCommerce Control Panel, providing real-time balance insights, top-ups and payouts, bank and card connections, and currency management. The embedded experience mirrors capabilities of the PayPal dashboard while allowing merchants to manage payments alongside other business functions through a single portal.

"BigCommerce Payments represents a major step forward in creating a seamless and simplified intelligent commerce experience for Commerce merchants," said Travis Hess, CEO at Commerce. "By embedding PayPal's trusted payment solutions directly into our platform, we will give merchants more control, visibility and flexibility to grow their businesses with confidence."

Michelle Gill, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Small Business & Financial Services at PayPal, stated, "By bringing together PayPal's world-renowned reliability, security and global reach with Commerce's merchant-focused platform, we're helping merchants thrive in the next era of ecommerce."

The companies plan to enable migration for existing merchants currently using PayPal Complete Payments, offering them the option to transition to the new BigCommerce Payments system through personalized communications.

The announcement builds on more than a decade of partnership between Commerce and PayPal, according to the press release.
