Callinex Mines Inc. (TSX-V: CNX; OTCQX: CLLXF) appointed geologist Peter Dimmell to its board of directors as lead director on the technical committee, according to a company statement.

Dimmell, a Professional Geologist with over 50 years of experience, was part of the discovery team for the Point Leamington volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit while working with Noranda. He also participated in exploration at the Rambler Mine and discovery of the Duck Pond mine in Newfoundland.

The geologist currently serves on the board of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame and previously held leadership positions including president of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada from 2004-2006 and chairman of Mining Industry NL.

"We are pleased to welcome Mr. Dimmell to our team as we advance the Pt. Leamington Deposit in Newfoundland," said Max Porterfield, president and CEO of Callinex Mines.

Dimmell commented that he believes there is potential to grow the resource at the Point Leamington deposit, where limited exploration has occurred since his previous involvement.

The Point Leamington Project is located in central Newfoundland, approximately 37 kilometers from Grand Falls-Windsor. The deposit contains a pit constrained indicated mineral resource of 5.0 million tonnes grading 2.5 grams per tonne gold equivalent for 402,000 ounces gold equivalent.

Callinex also announced it entered a purchase agreement to acquire one mineral license consisting of five claims adjacent to the Point Leamington Project. The company will issue 50,000 common shares and grant a 1% net smelter return royalty, which can be repurchased for C$1 million.
