BriaCell Therapeutics Corp. (NASDAQ: BCTX) announced a collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's Therapeutics Accelerator program to advance development of its Bria-OTS+ immunotherapy platform for multiple cancer indications.
The partnership will focus initially on manufacturing, investigational new drug development and clinical protocol support for a Phase 1 trial of Bria-BRES+, the company's immunotherapy for breast cancer patients under the Bria-OTS+ platform. The collaboration builds on BriaCell's previous selection into MSK's accelerator program.
Through the partnership, BriaCell will access MSK's clinical expertise, including cell therapy manufacturing capabilities, IND preparation and submission services, and clinical development resources. MSK operates as a cancer research and treatment institution with more than 135 years of experience in patient care and medical discovery.
The Bria-OTS+ platform represents BriaCell's next generation personalized off-the-shelf immunotherapy designed for metastatic breast cancer, prostate cancer and other cancer types. The Philadelphia and Vancouver-based biotechnology company develops immunotherapies for cancer treatment.
"We are thrilled to collaborate with MSK's scientific and clinical experts to address the urgent unmet medical need of many thousands of metastatic breast cancer patients," stated Dr. William V. Williams, BriaCell's president and CEO.
Dr. Shanu Modi, a breast medical oncologist at MSK, noted that collaborations through the Therapeutics Accelerator program aim to translate scientific innovations into potential new treatment options for patients.
MSK disclosed institutional financial interests related to BriaCell. The company's shares trade on NASDAQ under symbols BCTX, BCTXW, and BCTXZ, and on the Toronto Stock Exchange as BCT.
