Blaize Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: BZAI) announced a strategic partnership with Taiwan-based Winmate Inc. to integrate artificial intelligence capabilities into rugged computing systems for defense and critical infrastructure applications.
The companies signed an agreement targeting approximately $15 million in business during the first year, with a three-year initial term and automatic renewal provisions. The partnership will combine Blaize's AI chips with Winmate's rugged platforms, including drones, handheld devices, vehicle-mounted units, and embedded edge systems.
The integrated solutions are designed for operators in defense, border security, maritime, and healthcare sectors who require AI processing capabilities in environments where cloud connectivity is unreliable or unavailable. Blaize's chips are built to industrial-grade specifications and can run AI applications directly on devices without cloud dependency.
"Our customers can't wait, and they often can't rely on the cloud. They need AI that runs where the work happens," said Dinakar Munagala, CEO of Blaize. "This partnership turns a years-long vision into a practical, deployable answer for defense and critical infrastructure operators."
Ken Lu, Chairman and CEO of Winmate, stated that the partnership enables the company to deliver systems with on-device AI capabilities for customers operating in challenging environments including naval vessels, border outposts, and disaster zones.
Target applications include border security surveillance, mobile command and control systems, autonomous drone operations, critical infrastructure monitoring, maritime domain awareness, and portable healthcare diagnostics in remote locations.
According to BCC Research cited in the announcement, the global edge AI market is projected to grow from $11.8 billion in 2025 to $56.8 billion by 2030, representing a 36.9% compound annual growth rate.
The companies plan joint engineering, sales, and marketing efforts to bring the integrated systems to market, with potential for additional programs in subsequent phases of the partnership.
